How long does the entire dental implant process take?

The surgical placement of a single implant typically takes around 1–2 hours, but the full journey from first consultation to your final crown will be several months.

After your comprehensive assessment and scans, the implant is placed and left undisturbed to fuse with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration. This healing stage is crucial and usually takes around 3–6 months, depending on your bone quality, general health and whether any grafting was needed.

Once your implant is stable, an abutment is attached, and impressions are taken for your bespoke crown, bridge or denture.

Although the timeline may seem long, most of it is healing time between short appointments, and it’s what gives implants their strength and longevity.
