Dental Implants in Plymouth
The “Gold Standard” in tooth replacement. Giving you stability, long-lasting and natural-looking results.
Dental implants are one of the most reliable and secure financial investments you can make in your health and appearance.
Implants can halt and reverse bone loss, preventing the sunken, hollow and aged look while supporting Crowns and Bridges or Dentures.
You can bite, chew and eat as if they’re your natural teeth.
With over 35 years of experience, our Cosmetic Dentist, Dr Lenore Bronkhorst, has a special interest in placing implants.
Boost your confidence with Dental Implants at Mannamead Cosmetic Dental Centre
If you have insufficient bone volume in your jaw, you may need a dental Bone Grafting procedure or a more advanced Sinus Lift to allow for the successful placement of implants.
Dr Bronkhorst can perform these advanced procedures, saving you the need to be referred to other dentists.
Dental Implants FAQ
What are dental implants?
An implant is an artificial tooth root placed in your jawbone, fusing with the bones in your oral cavity, making them more or less permanent.
How long do implants last?
Dental implant treatment has been used to replace missing teeth since the early 1960s and is one of the dentistry industry’s most researched and advanced treatment areas.
Recent research shows that over 95% of well-placed and looked-after implants should last a lifetime.
Is the implant procedure painful?
Local anaesthetic is used to carry out the procedure so that there is no pain during the surgery. If you prefer, Sedation is also available.
What are the most common problems with implants?
Over 95% of dental implant procedures result in success.
One of the problems that can occur is the implant failing while in the healing stage, which means having to place a new implant.
However, poor oral hygiene or gum disease can also contribute to implant failure.

How are Dental Implants fitted?
When you see us for an initial consultation, we’ll discuss what you’re looking for and advise you on what different implant solutions suit you.
We will then undertake an oral health assessment. Good oral hygiene and healthy gums give your operation the best chance of success and help avoid dental infections and more severe complications.
If you have any oral health problems, such as tooth decay, gingivitis, or gum problems, our Dental Hygienist will help you treat them before the surgery.

Our state-of-the-art CBTC scanning machine will take multiple scans and x-rays of your mouth and jaw. The digital scanner produces precise and high-resolution 3D images of your mouth, including teeth, jaws, soft tissue, and bones – all with high levels of detail to enable precision planning to help fit your implant.
On the day of your surgery, we use a simple procedure to place the titanium screw in your jawbone. We’ll then place a temporary crown or bridge while you wait for the implant to heal. If you currently wear dentures, you can continue wearing them.
After your appointment, you may feel slightly swollen or tender for a few days. When choosing a date for a dental implant procedure, we advise you to avoid significant social engagements.
The human body tolerates titanium very well, and the implants will bond with your jawbone over the next 4-6 months. Once fully healed, we can fit your new permanent Crown, Bridge or Denture. From start to finish, the entire procedure takes around 6 months.
