Does the NHS cover Invisalign?
Invisalign is almost always a private treatment rather than an NHS option.
NHS orthodontic funding in England is mainly reserved for under-18s whose tooth position significantly affects their dental health, not just appearance, and is assessed using the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN). Even when a child qualifies for NHS orthodontics, the treatment offered is usually traditional metal braces rather than clear aligners, because metal braces are more cost‑effective for the NHS.
Adult orthodontic treatment on the NHS is extremely rare and generally limited to complex medical cases, again using fixed appliances rather than Invisalign. If you’re interested in nearly invisible, removable aligners, you’ll typically need to choose private Invisalign care.
