What are the downsides of Invisalign?

While Invisalign offers discreet, removable straightening, it isn’t perfect for everyone.

The aligners must be worn 20–22 hours a day, so you need good discipline; taking them out too often can delay or compromise results. You’ll remove them every time you eat or drink anything other than water, and clean both your teeth and the trays before reinserting them, which some people find inconvenient.

Mild speech changes, dry mouth, or temporary soreness and pressure when starting new aligners are also possible.

Invisalign can cost more than traditional braces and may not be suitable for very complex tooth movements or severe bite problems, where fixed braces or other options work better.
