Why choose Dental Implants to replace missing teeth?

Prevent facial sagging and reverse jawbone loss.

The gold standard solution for missing teeth.

Having implants fitted also reverses any jawbone loss that may have occurred, preventing the sunken, hollow, aged appearance that occurs when your teeth are missing.

We understand that having an implant fitted can be a daunting prospect. Dr Bronkhorst has advanced training in dental implants through the Tatum Institute and has completed postgraduate education in Avantgarde Dentistry, allowing for comprehensive, aesthetically driven treatment planning—particularly in complex, multidisciplinary cases.

Dr Bronkhorst can also perform advanced Bone Grafts and Sinus Lifts, saving you the need to be referred to other dentists.

We have affordable payment financing plans available, including 0% finance, and starting from less than £15 per week.

Dental Implants Before and After

A full mouth restoration with multiple implants and a full set of crowns

The Dental Implant procedure – Step-by-Step at our Plymouth Clinic

When you visit us for an initial dental implant consultation, we’ll discuss your needs and recommend the implant solutions that best suit you.

We will then undertake an oral health assessment. Good oral hygiene and healthy gums give your operation the best chance of success and help avoid dental infections and more severe complications.

If you have any oral health issues, such as tooth decay, gingivitis, or gum disease, our Dental Hygienist will help you address them before the surgery.

Our state-of-the-art scanning machine will take multiple scans and X-rays of your mouth and jaw, producing high-resolution 3D images of your mouth, including teeth, jaws, soft tissue, and bones – all with high levels of detail to enable precision planning to help fit your implant.

On the day of your surgery, we use a simple procedure to place the titanium screw in your jawbone. We’ll then place a temporary crown or bridge to fill the gap while you wait for the implant to heal. If you currently wear dentures, you can continue wearing them.

Dental Implants FAQ

Will I be left with a noticeable gap while my dental implant heals?

Not at all. We know how important a complete smile is for your confidence. On the day we place the titanium implant into your jawbone, we will also fit a temporary crown or bridge to seamlessly fill the gap.

If you currently wear dentures, you can continue to wear them while your implant integrates with the bone.

Where is your Plymouth dental clinic located, and is parking easy?

You will find our state-of-the-art clinic at 7 Lockyer Road, just a stone’s throw from Mutley Plain in Plymouth (PL3 4RL). We are conveniently positioned for patients travelling from across Britain’s Ocean City, including Derriford, Plympton, and Stoke Village.

There is convenient on-street parking right outside our practice (permit-only between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm). Alternatively, the Mutley Barracks and Napier Terrace car parks are only 100 metres away, both offering two hours of free parking.

Who will carry out my dental implant procedure at your Plymouth practice?

Your treatment will be meticulously planned and carried out by our Principal Dentist, Dr Lenore Bronkhorst. With 40 years of experience in dentistry and advanced international training in dental implant placement, Dr Bronkhorst brings world-class expertise right here to Devon.

Her extensive knowledge ensures you receive the highest standard of cosmetic and restorative care.

What if I have experienced jawbone loss and need a bone graft or sinus lift?

Jawbone density can naturally decrease when teeth are missing. If our high-resolution 3D CBCT scans reveal that you require additional bone support, you will not need an outside referral.

Dr Bronkhorst is highly experienced in performing advanced bone grafts and sinus lifts directly at our Plymouth clinic, ensuring your entire customised treatment programme is handled seamlessly under one roof.

I suffer from dental anxiety. How can you help me during the implant surgery?

We understand that the prospect of oral surgery can be daunting. Our Plymouth clinic provides a calming, supportive environment, and the procedure itself is completely pain-free thanks to a highly effective local anaesthetic.

For patients who feel particularly nervous, Dr Bronkhorst has a special interest in treating anxious patients and offers dental sedation to ensure you feel completely relaxed and comfortable throughout your visit.

What does the initial dental implant consultation involve?

Your journey begins with a comprehensive, one-hour examination.

During this detailed appointment at our Mutley Plain clinic, we assess your gum health, the structural integrity of your teeth, and bite function. We utilise a state-of-the-art scanning machine to take high-resolution 3D images and X-rays of your mouth.

Afterwards, we will discuss your aesthetic goals and provide a completely customised treatment plan with clear, transparent costs.

How long does the dental implant process take from start to finish?

After your initial placement surgery, the titanium implant will naturally bond with your jawbone over approximately six months—a process known as osseointegration.

During the first fortnight, you will visit us for a 14-day check-up to have your stitches removed and ensure healing is progressing perfectly.

Once fully integrated, you will return to our Plymouth clinic for your bespoke permanent porcelain or zirconia crown to be securely fitted.

How long will my new dental implants last?

Dental implants are widely considered the gold standard for missing teeth because they are a long-term investment in your oral health.

With excellent oral hygiene, regular brushing, and routine visits to our Plymouth dental hygienist, recent research indicates that over 95% of well-placed and properly maintained implants should last a lifetime. They look, feel, and function exactly like your natural teeth.

Do I need a referral from my NHS dentist?

No referral is necessary to begin your implant journey with us. While we regularly accept referrals from other dental practices across Devon and Cornwall, you are welcome to book directly with us.

We proudly serve patients travelling from Saltash, Torpoint, Ivybridge, Plymstock, and beyond. Simply contact our reception team to schedule your no-obligation consultation.
