Sinus Lifts in Plymouth

A sinus lift is a more advanced procedure if there’s not enough bone height in your upper jaw or your sinuses are too close to your jaw for dental implants to fit.

Although healing can take several months, it ensures long-term implant success.

Dr Bronkhorst can perform Bone Grafts and Sinus Lifts, saving you the need to be referred to other dentists.

A dental bone graft involves using synthetic material to increase the volume of your jawbone. This synthetic bone prompts your body to form new bone, and after a year or two, it is completely replaced by your own bone.

If you’re concerned about the cost, we offer affordable financing plans, including 0% finance, starting from less than £15 per week.

Sinus Lifts FAQ

What is a Sinus Lift?

A Sinus Lift is where synthetic bone is added between your jaw and the sinuses on either side of your nose so that there’s enough bone for your implant to be fitted. The sinus membrane has to be moved upwards or “lifted” to make room for the new bone.

How painful is a Sinus Lift procedure?

Local anaesthetic is used to carry out the procedure so that there is no pain during the surgery. If you prefer, sedation is also available.

Afterwards, there may be some slight pain, discomfort, or swelling for a few days, which can be treated with over-the-counter pain relief.

After the procedure, please try not to blow your nose or sneeze for the first two weeks, as this may cause the sinus lift to fail.

Would having a Sinus Lift change my facial appearance?

If you’ve had teeth missing for a while, a sinus lift with implants will cause your jawbone to start reversing bone loss and the sunken look that goes with it.

How long after a Sinus Lift can I have a dental implant fitted?

Though you will feel fine within a couple of weeks, the sinus lift must heal and harden for 3-6 months before the implant can be fitted.

Can a Sinus Lift fail?

Although most sinus lift operations are successful, they can fail if the synthetic bone material fails to integrate with your natural bone.

One of the biggest dangers is the added bone material becoming dislodged during healing, so you are told for the first two weeks not to blow your nose or try not to sneeze.

Where do you get the bone from for a Sinus Lift?

We use the latest technique for stimulating new bone growth – a stem cell-based synthetic material similar to your natural bone. As your new, natural bone regenerates, it replaces the synthetic material.

How much does it cost for a Sinus Lift in Plymouth?

Sinus Lifts at Mannamead Cosmetic Dental Centre start from £4950.

What happens after Sinus Lift surgery?

After your appointment, your face may feel slightly swollen or tender for a few days, and you may be prescribed antibiotics to prevent any infections.

For the first two weeks:

• Try to avoid physical exertion. Sports, heavy lifting, etc.
• Try to avoid alcohol and spicy/acidic food.

You’ll then have a follow-up appointment with us after 14 days for a check-up and to have your stitches removed.

If you’ve had a Sinus Lift, you should also:

• Try not to blow your nose.
• Don’t use any straws.
• Try not to sneeze.

If you suffer from hay fever or other allergies, schedule your sinus lift operation for an out-of-season date.

What our patients say about us

All new patients will be asked to book a 1-hour comprehensive examination appointment at a cost of £150.

This exam will include your teeth and gum health, structural integrity, bite function, cosmetic aspects, and any X-rays needed.

After we have carefully listened to what you want and under the dentist’s professional guidance, we will be able to create a customised treatment plan for you and discuss the available treatments and estimated costs.

A £60 deposit is required at the time of booking, with the remaining £90 due on the day of your appointment.

Please note that this fee is fully refundable if you notify us of your cancellation at least 72 hours in advance. Your deposit will not be refunded for cancellations made with less notice or failed appointments.
